I did not understand warehousing and transportation until reassignment to a logistics role in 1985. In the traditional supply chain world, the processes of sell, deliver, make, source, and plan are separate and distinct. A lot of this effort comes down to more sustainable sourcing, which tends to make environmental-conscious consumers happy. Starbucks to improve sustainable coffee sourcing. The goals prioritize reducing emissions in how green coffee is grown before addressing the rest of the value chain, such as transportation, roasting or packaging.
