According to the staff at Phrases.org, a French lawyer by the name of Anthelme Brillat-Savarin, published the first version of the phrase, “You are what you eat.”[1] In a book entitled Physiologie du Gout, ou Meditations de Gastronomie Transcendante , published in 1826, he wrote, “Dis-moi ce que tu manges, je te dirai ce que tu es.” Translated into English, it says, “Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are.
