Mush

Supply Chain Shaman

'Mush is a thick cornmeal pudding boiled in water or milk. It sits until the gel forms a semisolid state. In the United States, we lick it up with maple syrup or molasses, while in Eastern Europe it is served cold. It is a tasteless, innocuous food with little form or satisfaction. Mush in the Real World. Last week, the Gartner Top 25 was announced with great fanfare.

Leaving on a jet plane – in a few hours

DELMIA Quintiq

'I spend a fair amount of time at airports. Bjork’s rendition of Leaving on a Jet Plane could be my personal soundtrack. As an experienced traveler, I don’t suffer from many air travel-related fears, but there is one thing I am deathly afraid of: The $5 meal coupon. To this day, I still get shivers and a sinking gut-feeling the moment stewardesses come up to me with their most apologetic smile.

Talking Logistics

'“This is the end of I love you,” my six year old daughter yelled from the bathroom, where she locked herself after being reprimanded for crumbling her chocolate cupcake all over the dining room table and (the bigger offense) rolling her eyes at her mother when told to stop. She yelled, and stomped, and cried in the bathroom for twenty minutes or so, and we just let her get all the fury out as we cleaned up after dinner.

What Is the Value of a Scorecard?

Supply Chain Shaman

'It is about the right balance of the carrot and the stick. Progress happens when you measure. Relationships happen faster when there is more carrot than a stick. Over the last decade, scorecards have become more of a stick than a carrot. Reflections. Some days, in my coverage of consumer value networks, it seems like we are making slow progress.
